Mahabaleshwar is a popular hill station whose name has derived from the God ‘Mahabali’. Situated in the Sahyadri ranges of Maharashtra, the hill station boasts of natural scenic beauty which is a visual treat. The hill town is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The legendary source of the river is a spout from the mouth of a statue of a cow in Panch Ganga Temple in Old Mahabaleshwar. Four other rivers also come out from the cow’s mouth apart from Krishna and they all travel some distance before merging into Krishna. These rivers are the Koyna, Venna (Veni) ,Savitri, and Gayatri. Mahabaleshwar comprises of three villages: Malcolm Peth, Old “Kshetra” Mahabaleshwar and part of the Shindola village.

Touted as a devout center, it has many things on its platter. Some of the famous local attractions are PanchgangaMandir, Wilson Point, Baghdad Point, Arthur’s Seat and Bombay Point. These points are perfect places to enjoy some unmatched views of the lush greenery for which Mahabaleshwar is extremely famous for. Arthur’s Seat is known as “Queen of all Points” as it gives you a panoramic view of the alluring valleys and majestic Sahyadris.
